This Is Just to
Say by William Carlos Williams- The speaker expresses his apology for
taking the plums. As you read every line, it is short and sharp which means he
wants to get to the conclusion that he is sorry that he took her plums that
were in the icebox.
L(a by E. E. Cummings- A leaf falls loneliness is the what the speaker wrote. The
pattern of the poem is symbolic of the falling of a leaf. Because there is only
a single leaf falling it describes loneliness.
In a Station of the Metro by Ezra Pound- This poem compares faces passing in a crowd in the metro to
leaves on a tree.
